You have probably heard by now that processed meats like ham, salami, bologna, bacon and sausages cause
cancer and should be avoided. Just one hot dog or two slices of ham eaten daily, have been found to
increase colorectal cancer by 16 percent, yikes! But what else can you put on a sandwich? I love a good ham
sandwich and have struggled with this for a while now. I’m continuously testing out different store-bought
plant based options, without success, I have found that simple veggie swaps on an open faced bread have
done the trick.
Here are my go-to toppings:
Avocado bread seasoned with salt and pepper
Sliced cucumbers on cashew butter
Sliced tomatoes drizzled with chopped garlic and olive oil
Cashew cheese with Roasted bell peppers marinated in olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper
A combo of all of the above
